"Colonel William Light was born on 27 April 1786. Each year on his birthday, a ceremony is conducted at the Adelaide Town Hall to celebrate that day - it is termed 'The Drinking of the Cup' ceremony. Prior to the overture at each performance one of Adelaide's dignitaries will conduct the ceremony from the stage." |
