| Title |
New Princess Theatre. Opening Night. |
| Abstract/Description |
The first chapter in the history of scenic art in this colony may be said to have opened with the arrival in Melbourne of the late William Pitt, who worthily illustrated the brilliant series of Shakspearian performances given by the late G V. Brooke in Coppin's Olympic. On the night of the opening of that theatre the wife of the genial artist presented him with a son, and to this gentleman we are indebted for the design of what may be confidently asserted to be the handsomest theatre south of the equator. |
