Description Babar the Little Elephant by Jean de Brunhoff is a classic children's picture book from France written in the 1930s. It tells the story of Babar, a baby elephant orphaned when his mother is shot by a hunter. Babar runs away to a town where he is adopted by a rich old lady. He finally returns to the jungle, where he is elected king! Many young children and adults are already familiar with the storybook.
