| Description |
Bruno Beltrao is one of the youngest and most raved-about contemporary choreographers on the world stage today, notorious for his deconstruction of hip-hop dance. His nine dancers are verile youths from Rio with extraordinary physical prowess - they spin low on the floor; track backwards and in large circles with staggering velocity; and do the 'krumping' and 'popping' with ferocity. How do bodies 'touch' in hip-hop? How can we create hip-hop 'pas de deux'? In what ways can bodies interact with other bodies in hip-hop? How do hip-hop bodies flow in bare spaces? |
