| Description |
The unlikely lovers are Valentine, a dentist, and Gloria, a thoroughly modern (circa 1906) young lady. Their presiding spirit, and guarantor of a happy ending, is just as unlikely - a waiter nicknamed William (as in Shakespeare). Ebullient going-ons culminate in timeless celebrations which bring to an end a romance that begins - with Shaw's deft, modern irony - in a dentist's chair. |
